John S. Berestka, M.D.

John S. Berestka, M.D.John S. Berestka, M.D., completed his undergraduate and doctoral studies at the University of Notre Dame and John Hopkins University, respectively; his internship and residency at Hennepin County Medical Center and Harvard Medical School, respectively; and a fellowship at the Phillips Eye Institute. Dr. Berestka is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Berestka provides refractive, corneal, and cataract surgery.

Bonnie Bongard, M.D.

Bonnie Bongard, M.D.Bonnie Bongard, M.D., completed her undergraduate and doctoral degrees at Northwestern University and the University of Minnesota, respectively, and her internship and residency at Butterworth Hospital and the University of Minnesota, respectively. Dr. Bongard is certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Bongard practices general ophthalmology.

Timothy J. Ehlen, M.D.

Dr. Ehlen practices comprehensive ophthalmology services, including LASIK, cataract, glaucoma, and eyelid surgery.

 

Tanya S. Erntson, O.D.

Tanya S. Erntson, O.D.Tanya S. Erntson, O.D., obtained her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from Pacific University College of Optometry. (She also attended the University of Minnesota and Dickinson State University for a portion of her undergraduate studies.) She completed her residency at Minnesota Eye Consultants in association with Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Erntson is certified by the Minnesota State Board of Optometry and the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.

Dr. Erntson practices comprehensive optometry, including provision of contact lenses, surgical co-management, and treatment of dry eyes.

Richard S. Freeman, M.D.

Richard S. Freeman, M.D.Richard S. Freeman, M.D., completed his undergraduate and doctoral studies at Cornell University and the University of Minnesota, respectively; his internship in Portland, Oregon; his residency at Emory University; and a fellowship at UCLA's Jules Stein Eye Institute.

Dr. Freeman provides surgical and medical treatment of eye alignment disorders and pediatric ophthalmology.

Brian J. Hamann, O.D.

Brian J. Hamann, O.D.Brian J. Hamann, O.D., obtained his undergraduate degree at Bethel College and his Doctor of Optometry at Michigan College of Optometry. After obtaining his O.D., he served as an optometrist for the U.S. Air Force, during which time he also served as an adjunct professor at Indiana University and the University of Houston.

Dr. Hamann practices comprehensive optometry, including provision of contact lenses, surgical co-management (coordination ophthalmologic and optometric treatment), and ocular pathology.

Carol H. L. Johnson, O.D.

Carol H. L. Johnson, O.D.Carol H. L. Johnson, O.D., earned her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from the Pacific University College of Optometry. (She also attended the University of North Dakota for a portion of her undergraduate studies). She brings over 15 years of clinical experience in managing eye diseases to Northwest Eye.

Dr. Johnson provides eye disease management and contact lens fitting.

Todd Klesert, M.D., PhD

Todd Klesert, M.D.Todd Klesert, M.D., completed his undergraduate education at Alma College in Michigan; his Doctor of Medicine and Ph.D. at the University of Washington; his residency at John Hopkins University; and a fellowship at the University of Southern California.

Dr. Klesert provides retinal surgery and treatment of macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and ocular tumors.

He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Loushin practices comprehensive ophthalmology, including LASIK surgery and oculoplastics.

Joyce Mundahl, O.D.

Joyce Mundahl, O.D.Joyce Mundahl, O.D., completed her undergraduate and doctoral education at the Illinois College of Optometry (she completed some of her undergraduate studies at Moorhead State University). She pursued additional training in ocular disease treatment at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Mundahl brings over 25 years of experience to Northwest Eye.

Dr. Mundahl practices both pediatric and adult optometry, including fitting of contact lenses.

Charles S. Ostrov, M.D.

Mrunalini D. Parvataneni, M.D.Dr. Mrunalini D. Parvataneni, M.D., completed her doctoral studies at the University of the West Indies, her internship at Wayne State University, her residency at State University of New York, and her fellowship at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Parvataneni provides surgical and medical treatment of strabismus (eye alignment) and amblyopia and pediatric ophthalmology (including treatment of pediatric cataracts and retinal disorders).

Nicholas Schmitt, M.D.

Nicholas Schmitt, M.D.Nicholas Schmitt, M.D., obtained two undergraduate degrees: one in music (at the University of Miami) and a second in electrical engineering (at the State University of New York). He then obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Rochester; completed his internship; completed his residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center; and completed a fellowship at Drexel University College of Medicine - Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Dr. Schmitt is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Stan Walker, M.D.

He obtained his medical degree and specialty training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota; further training at the University of London's Moorfield's Eye Hospital; and two fellowships: one through Project ORBIS' flying eye hospital (a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting blindness in developing countries) and a second at Emory University.

Dr. Walker provides glaucoma and cataract treatment and expert laser eye surgery.

Wick, O.D., completed her undergraduate education at Pacific University (in Forest Grove, Oregon), her Doctor of Optometry at Pacific University College of Optometry, and clinical rotations at numerous medical centers in the U.S. and abroad. Dr. Wick is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and the Minnesota State Board of Optometry.

Dr. Wick practices general optometry, including treatment of ocular pathology, provision of contact lenses, and surgical co-management.
