iLASIK is a form of LASIK that uses sophisticated technology to give your personalized vision correction. Similar to Custom LASIK, your eye is scanned and mapped for tailored corneal correction. Unlike other forms of LASIK, a small precision laser called the Intralase creates the corneal flap during the iLASIK procedure.
The Intralase laser is used to create a corneal flap without using a blade. Once the flap is created, your cornea is corrected (based on the unique 3D image of your eye) using a state-of-the-art tracking laser. The active eye tracking technologies ensures the laser is aligned to your eye at all times (even if you move your eye). The flap is then repositioned to heal and your eye is covered with a protective shield. The entire procedure takes 15 to 20 minutes.
After the procedure, your surgeon will inspect your eyes and review at-home care with you. Your eyes should heal quickly, but you’ll need to use special care to make sure they healing properly. We’ll schedule an appointment the day after your procedure to follow-up.
You should be able to return to work within a day of the procedure, and see results in a couple of days.
Like any surgery, iLASIK has risks and varying results. Your surgeon will explain and discuss these with you and answer any questions you have before your procedure.
